📌 Overview

The FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2026-27 offers fully funded Master’s degree scholarships in agriculture and life sciences for students from eligible developing and middle-income countries. The program is funded by the Government of Hungary under an agreement with FAO to build capacity in agricultural systems and rural development.

🎓 Degrees & Programmes Offered

For the 2026–27 academic year, the scholarship supports English-taught Master of Science (MSc) programmes in:

  1. Agricultural Biotechnology – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Szent István Campus, Gödöllő)

  2. Animal Nutrition and Feed Safety Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Kaposvár Campus, Kaposvár)

  3. Plant Protection – University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural & Food Sciences and Environmental Management, Debrecen

These are high-quality postgraduate courses focused on agriculture, food systems, and sustainable development.

💰 Scholarship Benefits (Fully Funded)

This is a fully funded scholarship — meaning all major costs are covered for the duration of study:

✔ Full tuition fees and application fees
Basic books and academic materials
Dormitory accommodation
Subsistence costs (living allowance)
Health insurance

🧠 Selection Process

The selection happens in two phases:

  1. Phase 1 – Pre-Screening (FAO):
    • FAO reviews candidate applications for eligibility and completeness.
    • Eligible applications are sent to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture.

  2. Phase 2 – University Selection:
    • Candidate applications are forwarded to the chosen university.
    • Some universities may require an oral or written English test.
    • Final decisions are made by the universities.

Candidates are evaluated based on the following:

English language proficiency (for English-taught programmes)
